Donna Salazar Guest Designer - Journey of a lifetime mini album part two

Hi everyone here is part two of my mini album I created for Donna Salazar as a Guest Designer.  This album ended up being quite large in the end but I love how it has come together and it is certainly a treasure for me and future generations.  The papers that have been used are the Antiquities both the 8 X 8 and 12 X 12 inch versions and some Artistic Collection Papers along with the Crafty Chronicle.

For this page another colour (blue) has been added to the page to create a colour "pop" and works well with part two of the page which is below it.

This page features a Rose Creation flower spritzed with River Mossy Smooch Spritz, a border from the Antiqities border dicut page and some punched butterflies.

Another Rose Creation flower is on the Guadeloupe page this time with River Mossy and Caramel Latte Smooch Sprays.

With this page I have added a banner feature using the banner and journal spot from 12 x 12 diecut page from the Antiquities Collection. I have used the banner die and cut out two banners. The upper banner has just been cut to be a plain triangle and the journal spot is cut in half.

Some more sprightly sprocket diecuts feature on the next two pages of the Panama Canal. Once again I have created a pocket page for the journalling Tabs as this was just such an amazing experience so lots of journalling was done.  On the second page I printed out a collage of the photos I took while on the journey with a non digital point and shoot camera. Making the photos smaller makes it so the quality of them is a little better. The middle photo is a copy of a postcard - an idea if you have no photos or for photos you would not be able to get.

Tobago Island was our next stop and as this little island had shrines everywhere I thought I would add these jewellery findings onto this page to represent the shrines.

I have kept this next page about the Galapagos Islands fairly basic so that the photo and a copy of a drawing I did of a tortoise at age 13 stand out.

On the Marquesas Page I have added a Dragonfly diecut cut from a Fanciful flight die along with some flowers and corrugated card.

A page on French Polynesia  which includes the Sprightly sprockets and some brighter flowers.

This page about Tonga is a softer page and the flowers are from the diecut sheet from the Antiquities Collection. These flowers have been lightly spritzed with River Mossy  and Caramel Latte Smooch spritzes. The background has been inked with Truffle Mixed Media Inx.

This is my last journalling page as you can see the novelty of writing about places had worn off - not a lot said about Fiji or New Zealand! I have used the Dragonfly die again as well as the banner die. I cut the banners down to make a banner across part of the page.

and finally a basic back cover saying when the journal was made and when the journalling was done.

Thank you for looking at my album!

Donna Salazar Guest Designer - Journal of a Lifetime Mini Album Part one

Last year I was selected as a guest designer at Donna Salazar designs and this project was never shown so here it is.

When I received my Guest Designer product I was paging through The Chronicle and found a picture of a world map in it - this gave me the idea for this 8 X 8 album I am sharing with you today. Originally I was from South Africa and when I was twelve my parents decided to take the family on an around the world cruise on their 37 foot yacht. The original plan was to do a circumnavigation but we arrived in New Zealand and it is such a beautiful country we stayed and we are still here over 20 years later.  All the journalling in the album is a copy of my original "scrapbook" which was a big newsprint pad that my aunt gave me prior to leaving South Africa. It is wonderful having this record of my thoughts at the time and its rather funny too!! A real Journey of a Lifetime!!!

The base of the album is 8X8 Chipboard squares with the edges inked with Truffle Mixed Media Ink.
This is the front cover - it has lots of layers of distressed Antiquities and Artistic papers with the top one curled up as a feature. The flower on the top of the page is cut from The Chronicle using the rose creation die. This has then been joined together with a brad and spritzed using River Mossy and Caramel Latte Smooch Spritzes. The seam binding ribbon on the rings and the bow have also been spritzed using theses colours.  On the cover and throughout the album I have used Jasmine Mixed Media Inx(white) to grunge it up a bit. On the flourish and the wings I have put mixed berry fairy dust glitter using Clearsnaps Glue Gloss.

On my Introduction page I have used the fairy dust again and added some flowers and a butterfly cut from the Fanciful flight die set.

My next page I have increased the size of it by creating a flap on the one side so I could fit in the map from the Chronicle. The Sprightly Sprockets die was used to cut out the sprockets from the 12 X 12 diecut page.

With the next two pages I have created pockets to put in journalling Tabs to be able to fit all of the South African part of our Journey on two pages. The one with the butterfly is my favourite page in the whole album.  This also features a rose creations flower.

With The St Helena page I cut out the centre of a page and rolled back the edges and inked them with Truffle Mixed Media ink. A Fanciful Flight butterfly is featured again.

The Brazil Page is a fairly basic page with some findings and watch parts on it.

The next page has sprightly sprockets again and a Journalling tag cut from the compatibles sheet in the Antiquities pad. The background has been inked with the truffle ink as well.

The Venezualan page is also an extended page with a rose creation flower added and findings too.

This next page was a lot of journalling so decided to do the flower cluster on the side to break it up a bit.

The background for the map page of the British Virgin Islands was great as it made the map really stand out. Another Rose Creation flower and leaves are featured as well. The Crafty Chronicle also was used as a mat under the photo.

Another basic page including diecuts from the 12 X 12 diecut sheet from the Antiquities collection.

Another basic page using a paper doily and a Antiquities diecut.

Well I hope you are enjoying my album - be back soon with part two!!

CSI Case File no 39

Now for something a bit different from the last layout I shared.  I decided to create a layout for CSI case no 39 as I had the perfect papers for the colour combo that were sitting in my stash getting dusty as they were brighter papers that I liked but had not used.

Here is Case 39:

And here is my layout with a Mother Teresa quote on the photo which is perfect for how I feel when Christopher smiles.

I have used all the colours, my evidence is a bird, litlle bits and pieces of chipboard, leaves and a framed look to my layout. My testimony is journalling on the photo.

Creative Scrappers Sketch 228

Its been awhile since I entered a challenge other then Prima's ones but I decided to have a go with the sketch over at Creative Scrappers as it was a multiphoto one which I find great to do. But guess what I used Prima's Craftsman collection which is one of my favourites.  I also used a whole pack of Prima cogs too "gulp" but NO flowers :) !

Here is the Sketch:

I  stuck to the sketch and here is my layout:

Be back soon with some more shares!
