My weekend getaway

Well a 26 hour getaway... Tracey from Scrapbook Dreams forum came up with an idea to have a real life get together last weekend at a beach house (a rather large beach house). Due to other members commitments there were just three of us there - Tracey, Kirsten and myself (and their families). I had a great time and it was great to have a break from everyday life. It was great to meet Tracey and Kirsten - I was a bit nervous as I'm quite reserved but with the wonderful company and common interest it was nothing to be worried about - Thanks Ladies. Well I packed 10 page kits up to do various challenges and managed to complete 9,and almost complete one. I finished the 10th one today but won't be able to share just yet. The Scrapjacked layout from the previous post was one of them. One other I can't share just yet as have to ask someones permission to put on my blog as they are in the photos. ( I thought I had done 11 but miscounted)

Here are the others (as this is a long post I won't be putting my ingredients down -if you have any queries just ask in a comment and I will get back to you):

This is a long one with lots to share......

I have had extra creating time so have been doing a few layouts for various challenges, design team layouts and even one layout just for fun.

There is a new challenge site called Puzzle sketches where you get pieces of "puzzle " and you have to create a layout using those bits. The prize is done on a vote system - you can vote go look at the site in my challenges links. Heres mine :

I have also done a challenge finally for white with one - I started a few weeks ago but got stuck on a title and journalling - I had initially started to try get on their design team but then decided not to. The photos on this are nearly eight years old so good to get them scrapped.

It was initially started as a layout for a challenge at SBBD and for me is a simple layout and lots of white space. Check back on Wednesday/Thursday this week for my design team layouts (yes I did two as once I did one I found another piece of paper which I thought was perfect for the sketch). Have a great week.

A Productive Friday

I had a long day yesterday - awake at 6am and back to bed 4am today but is was very productive. Kaitlyn had four hours of kindy and then had lunch and slept for almost two. They have been having 'Olympics practice" at kindy for their Olympics the next two weeks and she was a bit worn out. So I had the morning to clean house , catch up with the washing finally and did a layout in the morning and while she was asleep did another (see two previous posts) and caught up with blogland. We then had the normal pick up from school , dinner and getting the kids to bed. I then had another four hours to do some scrapping (layouts later). We then woke the kids up and watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics and had a midnight feast of chicken nibbles, chips and other goodies including a batch of peanut brownies baked at 2:30am - something different and a bit of fun.

Here's the layouts created last night:

LOTS to share

I have been beavering away at some layouts two the last couple of days and four in the last couple of hours well the kids have been drawing.

First up is my layout for KIWI JACK ME UP - jacking Heidis from SBBD layout.  I have put the transparency over some my minds eye paper and put embellishments over the top. I did it last night - I just love this photo.

Next up is a layout for Scrapbook dreams weekly sketch - you had to use a least one rubon.

The next four I did today.

This layout is for Stampin Scrap sketch for the week - I flipped and rotated the sketch this time.

This layout below is for Scrapbooking by Design's July sketch - I love how it has turned out - I bought these papers to do part six of their contest but didn't use them.

Next up is a layout for Scrapbox NZ sketch challenge for July - Katie doesn't look like she is enjoying that fluffy.

Lastly the next layout is for Scrappin Patch's fortnightly sketch which will be based on votes by readers of their blog and finishes tonight at midnight.

Some enabling for you Scrapbox NZ is having a 30% sale on everything until the end of July.  Their Bazzil cardstock is only 0.69 cents per sheet - needless to say 74 pieces found my trolley

Scrapbooking by Design June Sketch challenge

I did this layout this morning and finished my layout for So you think you can scrap part three. After taking a lot longer to do Liannes challenge then I would normally take the sketch layout was very quick. The elements for the contest were ones I have used and Im sure I have put them on a layout before but without a list - a list got me stumped there a bit. It makes me think I lean towards freestyle scrapping especially when the Kelly layout came together very quickly. Heres the layout for the sketch will share the other layout Thursday or Friday.

Scrapbooking by Design sketch Challenge March

Its Moniques turn to choose the sketch and it is a super easy sketch and I have so many photos to do this sketch.  But I chose one of Katies when she was a newborn (slowly getting through my older photos). The paper I have used is Rhonna Farrer with a splash of basic grey.  As you can see this is another layout with lots of "white space" slowly making the realisation that I don't have to cover the whole page for a layout to be effective.  Using distressed or fairly plain patterned paper as a background instead of cardstock makes it easy to do a simpler layout.  I think I am going to use this sketch for a few more layouts - thanks Monique

MEEK SPIN OFF - KELLYS CHALLENGE

Kelly over at Scrapbooking by design set a challenge to create  a 12x6 either using the sketches she provided or your own.  I have only ever done one layout this size but now have done another four that can be easily converted to my 12x12 albums.  This size is so quick to do a layout.  These were done in just over an hour and show my oldest son's progress to get home after being born eight weeks early over seven years ago.

Scrapbooking By Design Layout Challenge February

The challenge over at Scrapbooking by design is to use doodling in your layout.  I have doodled around embellishments and doodled the journalling.  Nice and bright layout!!

Scrapbooking by Design sketch Challenge February

I have been tricky by doing a double layout and using each half for a different challenge.  This is my take  for Scrapbooking by Design's February sketch.  Same papers and elements used in previous post challenge.

Scrapbooking by Designs January Challenges

Here are my two takes on the January challenges for Scrapbooking by designs.

The first one is using your own homemade patterned paper which I painted orange and stamped blue paint bubble wrap over the top.

The second is for the sketch challenge Christopher is so blonde in these photos - He now has a number four haircut as of yesterday and looks cheekier then ever.

Scrapbooking by design monthly challenge

This is my second go at the challenge using a heidi swapp mask for the first time my girl has become a sceamer groan!!

I enjoyed doing this challenge that you had to use paint on your layout. I rolled paint on the cardstock and painted the chipboard letters to match. Other then the not great photos I am very happy how this turned out.
